Patrick Scully is a Chinese-American bass currently living in Connecticut.

Originally from New York City, Patrick has been hailed for his “naturalistic acting” and “burnished, expressive bass” (NJarts.com). He has been seen in productions with St. Petersburg Opera, Light Opera of New Jersey, Teatro Grattacielo, Sarasota Opera, The Princeton Festival, the Edward C. Smith Civic Center, Prague Summer Nights, Piedmont Opera, and the Amalfi Coast Music Festival. He has also performed at Davidson College, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and Northwestern University.

Patrick made his main stage debut with Piedmont Opera in their 2015 production of Die Zauberflöte as an Armored Man, and again appeared in 2015 with Piedmont Opera as the Court Usher in Rigoletto. In 2016 he performed the roles of the 1st Burgess and A Fisherman in The Princeton Festival’s production of Peter Grimes. Later that year Patrick would appear once again with Piedmont Opera as the Jailer in Tosca. In 2017, Patrick made his Edward C. Smith Civic Center debut as King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors. In 2018, Patrick appeared as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro at the legendary Estates Theater in Prague with Prague Summer Nights.

Mr. Scully made his first appearance as a Sarasota Opera Studio Artist in their 2020 season, covering the roles of Colline in La Bohème and Stromminger in La Wally. He made his main stage debut at Sarasota Opera in 2022, as the Coporal in La fille du regiment, and also covered the role of Leone in Atilla that season.

Patrick Scully appeared with Teatro Grattacielo twice in the summer of 2022, marking his New York City debut with the role of Sansone in Giulietta e Romeo and then appearing as Masetto at the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice in Don Giovanni (production by Teatro Grattacielo).

Patrick received his B.A. in Theater from Davidson College in 2012, where he worked with voice teacher Jacquelyn Culpepper and appeared as the title role in Le nozze di Figaro. He then received his B.M. from University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2015 where he studied with Dr. Marilyn Taylor and performed a number of roles, including Luther and Crespel in Les contes d’Hoffman, the Secret Policeman in The Consul, and Nonancourt in Il capello di paglia di Firenze. Patrick went on to receive his M.M. from Northwestern University in 2019, where he studied with W. Stephen Smith. While at Northwestern University he appeared in a number of productions, performing the roles of Beau-père in Le pauvre matelot, Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Valens in Theodora and Father Trulove in The Rake’s Progress.
